Senator Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, has finally reacted to the allegations of plot to remove his Deputy Governor, Prof Placid Njoku. Uzodinma revealed how he adopting Prof Placid Njoku, an unknown face and an academic, as running mate in the 2019 governorship election for Imo State.
Hope Uzodinma was speaking at the 60th birthday ceremony of the wife of the Imo State Deputy Governor, Dr Bola Njoku, where he was the Special Guest of Honour.
According to Uzodinma, the revelation to adopt Placid Njoku as his running mate, and eventual Imo Deputy Governor, came during one of his daily morning mass routine.
Uzodinma claimed that the spirit of God direct him to pick Prof Placid Njoku, as his running mate. According to Uzodinma, God revealed to him that Prof Njoku was a man he would never argue.
Uzodinma stated that after the mass was over, he called Njoku to come to his house, and that was how he picked him as running mate.
Uzodinma reveled that, Prof Njoku who was then holding a consultancy work at the Senate at that time, and did not even immediately grasp the weight of the opportunity Uzodinma offered him.
Uzodinma revealed that was busy making plans to travel to the Philippines for academic purposes, rather than take the opportunity offered.
Uzodinma said he told Njoku, ‘ I am taking you to more than the Philippines, God has instructed us to save Imo State, you have to come with me’
Senator Uzodinma went further, by commended his Deputy Governor and his wife for support they have given him, and celebrated their love, which had kept their marriage going over the years. .
Uzodinma revealed that the sate was faced with a high debt profile created by former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, which stood at over a one hundred and ninety nine billion naira.
Uzodinma further used the opportunity to urge those behind the spate of Insecurity in the state, to turn a new leaf.
Uzodinma used the opportunity to officially commission the opening of the Deputy Governor’ s lodge.
The position of who would deputize Uzodinma, was hotly contested by former governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress APC, during the 2019 General Elections.
Uzodinma would surprise everybody when he settled for Prof Placid Njoku. In recent times, moves have been made by elements in the APC, to create problems between Uzodinma and Njoku, in a bid to unseat the Ikeduru born former Vice Chancellor.
News had broke last week, with claims that the Deputy governor had resigned, by Placid Njoku would refute the claims.
By his assertion, Uzodinma had laid the plot to rest, ashe affirmed his support for Njoku.
