Imo: Aside from his mouth, Uche Ogbuagu had nothing to offer

By Maazi Obinna Akuwudike

News broke this afternoon, of the 4th of March 2021, that the member representing Ikeduru state constituency in the Imo Assembly, Uche Ogbuagu, was sacked as the Majority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly.

The details surrounding his sack, is believed to be linked to his running battle with the Deputy Speaker of the Imo State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu.

It would be recalled that Uche Ogbuagu came into office, through the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, with the help of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, but turned against Ihedioha, when he was denied the Deputy Speakership position of the Imo State House of Assembly.

Ogbuagu will jump ship to support Senator Hope Uzodinma, after the removal of Ihedioha by the Supreme Court, and as reward for his betrayal of his former political associates, he was bestowed with the Majority Leader position, a position in his title mentality, he even commissioned a seal to be made for him, the first time a Majority Leader of the State Assembly, and even probably the National Assembly, would have a seal.

His unceremonious and disgraceful removal today, has probably shown that the Uzodinma leadership, and the State Assembly leadership, have finally realized that Uche Ogbuagu has nothing to offer, other than his mouth.

Uche Ogbuagu became famous through his talkinson radio cassette shows, where he cracked jokes.

Former Governor Rochas Okorocha would bring him into politics, after the removal of Dr. Ikedi Ohakim.

When Ogbuagu and Okorocha parted ways, for the hatred the people had for Okorocha, they didn’t see, or chose to overlook Uche Ogbuagu’ s tendencies, of betraying those who bring him to limelight.

However, it became very obvious, with the removal of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, and Uche Ogbuagu’ s constant attacks at the man who made him a House of Assembly member.

Aside from his talk shows, Uche Ogbuagu has not shown that he has any other thing to offer.

Despite the fact that Ihedioha kept Imo as clean as possible, after the mountain of waste he inherited from Okorocha, Ogbuagu, in protest to the fact that he was not given the Deputy Speakership of the House, and because he felt Ihedioha didn’t back him, used his radio station to castigate Ihedioha, tagging Imo State a Very dirty state under Ihedioha.

I asked him why he was suddenly quiet over the state of cleanliness in Imo State today, but it was obvious that all he wanted was a position and nothing more. Having been given one, he turned a blind eye to everything that was going wrong in the state.

Uche Ogbuagu, who used to attack Rochas Okorocha over nonpayment of pensions, suddenly became dumb, as pensioners and civil servants were owed in the state.

Ogbuagu’s interest has remained about power, which seems to be why he has sponsored all manner of blackmail against his National Assembly representative, Rt Hon Henry Nwawuba, probably because he has his eyes set on replacing Nwawuba.

At a time, Ogbuagu even arrested an aide to Nwawuba, for criticising him. He may even try to arrest me now for gloating.

His cravings for more power, may have been the reason he went on the wrong side of the Deputy Speaker, who today got him sacked as the Majority Leader.

Clearly, they have understood that he had nothing to offer but his mouth, which lately no Imolite seem interested in listening to.

We are waiting for him to run to his radio station as usual to try and talk to people, who are not listening or sympathizing with him.
